Autumn Birds and Bears news

September is a superb season to experience Transylvania nature and wildlife.  Bears usually very active this time; they need food before the winter arrives so all the three hides have been reliable. We enjoyed several super encounters with a total of 22 bears in 3 different hides!

Among local birds the Hazel Grouse was the definitely a bonus for us and performed for our guests in front of Bear hide no.3 quite a few times so everybody could take pictures of it.

The feeding and drinking hide was a popular place for many local birds too. We had some nice moments with Crested Tit, Willow Tit, Great Tit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Robin, Hawfinch, and Red Squirrel.

We have great news for the upcoming tour participants as a special accommodation for nature lovers and photographers opened its gates. This is the Harghita Bear Lodge, an eco friendly place for Sakertour guests. In the garden of the lodge a drinking and feeding station operates all year round and all of our key places for bird watching are within comfortable distances! For us means an important step forward to quality eco tourism indeed.

On the garden list are such species like Ural Owl, Goshawk, Nutcracker, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Black Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Red-backed Shrike and we are sure the list will grow substantially!
